Intro

A Mott MacDonald-led consortium with Ramboll, Tethys Environmental Consulting and Milieu has been awarded a two year contract by the EC’s EuropeAid Cooperation Office to support the development of a common security management, maritime safety and ship pollution prevention project for the Black and Caspian Seas (SASEPOL)

The €3.4 million project has been introduced to improve the adoption of international legislative frameworks and conventions for maritime transport, security and environmental protection in the Black and Caspian Sea countries, such as Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.

The project's main stakeholders are the Maritime Departments of the Ministries of Transport, and Ministries of Environment (or their equivalent), the Maritime Administrations and relevant ports of the beneficiary countries. The project is due for completion in August 2011.
